Profile

Adenike has over 21 years’ experience as a Legal Practitioner. She has practiced law both as an external solicitor as well as in-house counsel and Company Secretary, gathering experience in business set-up, M&As, various commercial transactions, loan and other financing, and Organizational Restructuring.

She started her career at Odujinrin & Adefulu as a Legal Officer and went on to work in both their Lagos and Abuja offices.  Her interest in Litigation as well as working with and for the Public Sector was gained from here.  She has also worked at Messrs. Austen-Peters and Co. where she gained experience with working with Corporates, and developed interest in Merger and Acquisitions, Corporate Restructuring and Pensions.

In the last 14 years, she has worked with one of the top 5 Nigerian Insurance companies, Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited, and participated at a senior level in the last 10 years.  She gained experience in commercial loan financing and deals actively with various regulators.

Given her passion for Alternative Dispute Resolution methods, she became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (Nigeria Branch) and is an Accredited Mediator with the Lagos Multi-door Courthouse.  She has handled cases spanning various areas including insurance, general disputes on tenancy, wills, tort, Contract and so on, with over 90% settlement rate.

Recently, she earned the Global Sanctions Specialist certification from the prestigious Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) where she has been a certified member since 2020.

Adenike is a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

  • Led the Legal team that concluded a Private Placement with a leading private equity firm in 2009.
  • Led the Legal team that concluded several Mergers to grow the company into a Financial Services Holding Company in 2013
  • Led the Legal team that commenced and successfully concluded a 10m USD Loan Agreement with IFC in 2015
  • Working on a $15,000,000 convertible loan transaction with a leading private equity firm [2021]
  • Part of the team that worked on the review of the Draft laws which culminated in the Pension Reform Act 2004
  • Part of the team that advised various companies in their transition to Pension Fund Administrators, Custodians and Closed PFAs – including Pensions Alliance Limited, Shell Nigeria Closed Pension Fund Administrator (SNCPFA), First Pension Custodian Nigeria Limited, and UBA Pensions Custodian Limited
